Moldings

Moldings or transition pieces are used to separate and connect different types of flooring, different rooms, or different thicknesses of flooring. T-molds, reducers, and end caps are all transitions commonly used in door ways to allow the flooring to connect smoothly to the next surface or room.

Floating floors require that after every 30ft there should be a transition to allow for expansion and contraction. Floating floors expand and contract due to different temperatures. All floors require a small gap, called an expansion gap, around the perimeter of the room from the flooring to the wall. Quarter round or shoe molding covers this gap and still allows the flooring the accurate space needed to move without showing the gap.

Laminate T-mold

This is a molding that is made to separate two surfaces that are fairly even in height.

Example: Tile to 12mm laminate, tile to tile, wood to laminate

Laminate Reducer

This molding is to go from a high surface like a 12mm laminate down to a lower surface like a vinyl plank.

Example: 12mm laminate down to vinyl

Laminate Stairnose

Stairnose are used to cap off the 90degree angle of the Stairstep. This molding seals the face of the step to the top of the step.
